The International Office and the Doctoral College have been liaising with colleagues from the Bolashak programme, a Kazakh-government funded scholarship programme, for the past few months.
They have been working together on an agreement that enables taught master’s and PhD students to study at the University’s two campuses in the East Midlands and London.
Professor Allison signed the agreement in Kazakhstan at the start of the month; the signing comes shortly after the Kazakh Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Erlan Idrissov, visited º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.
During the Ambassador’s visit to º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, he met with the Vice-Chancellor, current º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Kazakh students, and visited the Sports Technology Institute and the research facilities of the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering.
Commenting on the agreement, Professor Allison said: “I am delighted that we have deepened our relationship with Kazakhstan in this way. I am proud of the international student body at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ. Signing the Bolashak Agreement with the Government of Kazakhstan will provide opportunities to further strengthen an important element of the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ community.”
