Textiles student's talent is recognised twice at national exhibition

Final-year Textiles student Charlotte Munson has rounded off her time at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ by winning both the Kingfisher Design Talent Award and the Turner Bianca Associates Prize at the London-based exhibition New Designers.

Charlotte, who followed the Printed Textiles pathway, displayed her Scatter of Seasons collection and was chosen out of hundreds of graduating exhibitors.

She has won a six-month paid internship with the Kingfisher Design Team, based in Southampton, and a four-week paid internship with Turner Bianca at their studio in Greater Manchester.

The Talent Award is awarded to a design that “reflects a deep visual understanding of consumer needs” while the Turner Bianca Prize is presented to a designer who demonstrates “a special talent in painting and drawing, creative and innovative design ideas and a good feel for colour”.

As well as the awards presented to exhibitors, New Designers is an opportunity to showcase work to industry buyers and this year, a number of finalists sold their work.

You can view samples of work by Charlotte and this year's Textiles finalists who showcased their work at the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Arts Degree Show last month here.
