º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ London supports fascinating community projects through new funding initiative

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ London has awarded nine charities and organisations with donations, as part of the new London Open Fund initiative.

The programme accepts bids of up to £1,000 from charities and organisations surrounding the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ London campus, to support the local community.

The London Open Fund is new to 2018; it is an extension of º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s Community Donations Fund, which has helped more than 200 community groups in the East Midlands.

Funding an art project for all students, focussing on active lifestyles and sport in order to inspire children to be active

Renovating a lounge/social space that is used by homeless people

Queer Newham

Hosting a ‘Celebrating Diversity in Newham’ event

Trowbridge Garden

Funding a gardening project, supporting locals of community and promoting well-being and sustainability

Barn Croft Primary School

Replacing old trikes, scooters and balance bikes with new, safer ones

Newham Poetry Group

Funding the production of their first printed poetry collection

Spark2Life Detached Project

Helping to fund uniforms for the volunteers

The Magpie Project

Funding summer 'stay in touch' days to support families who have insecure living situations

Ambition, Aspire, Achieve

Funding an accessible greenhouse to aid with the weekly young people’s gardening and growing club

 Ben Cole, Stakeholder Development Manager at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ London, said: “When we established º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ London we wanted to be an active neighbour in our local community. 

“Supporting local organisations to continue to make east London the vibrant and exciting place that it is through our Open Fund is just one of the ways we do this.  

“We are so happy to play a small part in helping these organisations help our community.”
