First day of athletics brings Breen gold

Day four of the 2018 Commonwealth Games saw Paralympian and World Champion Olivia Breen win gold in the women’s T38 Long Jump with a new Games Record.

The º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ-based athlete, representing Wales, won the women’s competition and produced a personal best and a Commonwealth Games record in the last round of the competition by leaping to a great distance of 4.86m.

Of her gold-medal performance Breen said: "I said to myself go for it, hit that board, and jump as far as I can. I jumped 4.86m, a personal best, which is exciting, and a great way to end the competition. I have a day off tomorrow and I head back to the stadium on Thursday (to compete in the 100m). I'm looking forward to that."
