Pub Science – climate change, an uncertain future?

On Thursday 16 November, LU Arts will present the first of this year’s ‘Pub Science’ series, exploring the theme of climate change.

Taking place at The Swan in the Rushes in º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, the event is free to all and will be hosted by Professor Rob Wilby, Lecturer at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s Department of Geography, who will pose a number of questions around climate change, such as:

-       Have our attitudes changed post-Brexit and since Donald Trump became the President of the United States?

-       In a time of ever increasing ‘fake news’ and biased press, is it harder to know the truth about climate change?

Professor Wilby specialises in the management of freshwater environments through climate change, and his latest research explores smarter approaches to climate risk assessment and decision making through ongoing uncertainty about our future climate.

Of the event, Nick Slater, Director of LU Arts said: “Join us for a new strand of Café Scientifique style events whereby we invite academics to host discussions on areas of research that explore key issues facing the world today.

“The first is led by Professor Rob Wilby from the Department of Geography, and will discuss whether or not the recent withdrawal of the US from the Paris Agreement and Brexit will materially impact efforts to reduce global emissions of greenhouse gases.”

The event takes place from 6pm-8pm on 16 November. To book tickets, please visit the LU Arts website
