Participants wanted for new prediabetes screening study

A study by º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ aims to investigate whether people with prediabetes can benefit from seeing feedback about their physical activity and glucose levels.

The study will last seven weeks and participants will be asked to attend up to four appointments at the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.

Between the first two appointments, participants will be asked to wear two devices to measure their physical activity levels. Between the second and final appointment, participants will be asked to wear two devices to measure their physical activity and glucose levels. During this time, participants will be able to access physical activity and/or glucose feedback.

To take part, volunteers must:

  • Be aged at least 40 years old
  • Use an Android smartphone

Individuals interested in taking part in our study who meet the above criteria are encouraged to complete a brief online survey to determine the level of risk for developing Type 2 diabetes.

Those who receive a high-risk score will be contacted by a member of the research team to arrange an appointment where they will be asked to provide a finger-prick blood sample.

The results of the blood test, which arrive within minutes of collecting the sample, will determine eligibility to take part in the study.

All participants will receive a comprehensive health report at the final appointment. Information collected from the study will be kept strictly confidential.
