º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ academic to deliver City Series lecture

A º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ academic is set to present a City Series lecture at Leicester City Hall on Thursday 25 May.

City Series is a public lecture series in Leicester that delivers free events relating to a wide range of urban topics, such as architecture, history and geography.

It has been established by the Leicester Urban Observatory, a collaborative project between practitioners and academics from Leicester City Council, De Montfort University, University of Leicester, and º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.

The project aims to establish a combined centre of excellence in urban studies and planning for Leicester. Sir Peter Soulsby, the City Mayor, delivered the inaugural lecture earlier this year.

The next lecture in the series, ‘The City in Graphic Detail’ will be presented by Dr Robert Harland, Lecturer in Visual Communication at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s School of the Arts, English and Drama.

The talk will draw from Robert’s recently published book, ‘Graphic Design as Urban Environments’ to explain how graphic objects such as typefaces, advertisements, street signs and sports pitches contribute to the way urban places work.

Brian Lisowy, Place Marketing Project Manager for Tourism, Culture and Investment at Leicester City Council will also give a short presentation on the new ‘Legible Leicester’ project.

Free tickets for the talk are available to book here. For details on future events in the series, visit the website
