Women and men needed for high street brand flip flop study

Twenty women and 10 men with the shoe size 5, 7 or 9 are needed for a flip flop study for a high street brand.

The testing – which is being carried out by Progressive Sports Technologies Ltd, based at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s Sports Technology Institute – will take place between 3-17 January at a date and time that suits the volunteer.

Participants must bring with them a pair of shorts and a t-shirt to complete the testing in. All flip flops will be provided and those that take part will receive a £15 Amazon voucher as a thank you.

The study will involve a session in the Sports Technology Institute’s Lab on the University campus lasting approximately 1.5 hours.

The trial will consist of sitting in the flip flops for 10 minutes, standing in the flip flops for 10 minutes and walking for three bouts of 10 minutes, making a total time walking of 30 minutes.

In between each of these activities the participant will be asked to complete feedback forms and have measurements of their feet taken with a thermal camera and an SpO2 measurement device - a clamp that goes over the toe to measure blood O2 saturation levels. Both measurements are non-invasive and will cause no discomfort.

Video will also be taken to allow verbal feedback throughout the testing to be collated. This video data will only be used to help the product development and will not be used for marketing claims.

The aim is to complete testing as early as possible, so those who book a slot after 12 January may miss out as there is a chance all the earlier slots will be filled and 30 participants gathered.

The test slots are available on work days at 9am, 11am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm. Each slot is first come first serve.
