Aimed at year 12 students and taking place in January 2018, the three Inspiring Minds events will give students an insight into what it is like to study Sport, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and Business and Economics at undergraduate level.
Each of the events will consist of a range of talks, practical workshops and mini lectures. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet current students and learn more about life at university.
Organised by the University’s School and College Liaison Team, the taster days are free to attend, excluding the cost of travel to the campus, and refreshments will be provided on the day.
The three events taking place in January are:
- Inspiring Minds: Sport– Tuesday 16 January, 9.30am-3pm, James France Building;
- Inspiring Minds: STEM – Wednesday 17January, 9.30am-3pm (registration from 9am), West Park Teaching Hub;
- Inspiring Minds: Business and Economics – Thursday 18 January, 9.30am-3pm, James France Building.
Event lead Dr Sophie-Louise Hyde said: “These events are really valuable for year 12 students and they’re also useful for school groups and teachers to attend.
“They enable students to explore studying their chosen subject and this year’s events offer a range of new and exciting sessions, too.
“I’m really excited to see what difference they make to informing students about their opportunities at university level.”
Students can find more information and book their place on one of the taster days via the Inspiring Minds webpage.
