º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Students’ Union Harry Potter Society host Quidditch activities for community
Muggles, children and adults are invited to experience the magic of Harry Potter with a game of Quidditch at Queens Park on Saturday 26 November.
Quidditch team º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Longshots, who first formed in 2013, will teach people how the game works and provide taster sessions on how to use a broom and catching the golden snitch.
The event has been organised by º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Students’ Union in partnership with Charnwood Borough Council, to celebrate the illustrating Harry Potter exhibition which is currently on display at Charnwood Museum.
The exhibition features illustrations of ‘Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone’, which have been reimagined by illustrator Jim Kay.
Joe Ross-Nelson, Societies Executive Officer at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Students’ Union, commented: “There are so many conscious efforts made by members of our student community to combine volunteering in the local community whilst sharing their own passions and hobbies. For the last few years, LSU Harry Potter and Quidditch have been an incredible example of this, spending lots of their time working with students, school children, and families alike to spread the magic of Harry Potter, and to show that opportunities for fun and physical activity can be inspired from absolutely anywhere.”
Matthew from the Harry Potter Society added: “We hope to increase awareness of the growing sport by getting the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ public involved this weekend.”
