Ennis-Hill to return to the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ International Athletics meeting
Jess Ennis-Hill has today confirmed that she’s all set to return to the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ International Athletics (LIA) meeting for the first time since 2011.
The London 2012 Olympic champion will aim to do the double at the Paula Radcliffe Stadium on Sunday 17th May, as she lines up in both the long jump and the javelin.
Ennis-Hill returned to competitive action at the weekend in Manchester after two years away from the sport due initially to injury and then with the birth of her first child last year. Ten months later she is back, and placed a very respectable third over 100mH on Saturday showed that she is ready to compete with the best.
The City of Sheffield star is no stranger to competing in º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, having taken part in the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ European Athletics Permit (LEAP) meeting in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Working with long-term coach Toni Minichiello, Ennis-Hill will return to her tried and tested formula of a long jump and javelin double, which served her so well in the run up to the 2012 Olympics.
Of her return to º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, Ennis-Hill said:
“I am really looking forward to competing in the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ International - it is always a good meet for me at the start of the season. I was happy with my run over the hurdles last Saturday in Manchester and the chance to compete in the long jump and javelin a week later will give us a really clear picture of how things are shaping up.
“It is very good to be back competing again and I hope lots of local people will come and support us all next Sunday.”
