Performance psychologist receives prestigious fellowship
Dr. David Fletcher, a senior lecturer in performance psychology and management in the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, has received a fellowship from the Association of Applied Sport Psychology.
The Association is the world’s largest sport psychology organisation with over 2000 members and a fellowship is the highest honour that it bestows on its members.
The fellowship is awarded in recognition of significant and ongoing contributions to the Association and the field of sport and exercise/health psychology as demonstrated by leaders within the Association and contributions to knowledge and practice within the field.
Dr. Fletcher was commended for his “scholarly leadership and ground-breaking research in performance psychology and management, together with the impact of this work on professional practice and policy across high performance domains”.
He was also recognised for his editorial leadership of the Association’s flagship publication, the Journal of Sport Psychology in Action.
After receiving the fellowship at the Association’s annual conference in Las Vegas, Dr. Fletcher reflected that:
“It is an honour to be recognised by the Association of Applied Sport Psychology with a fellowship.
“Since the early days of my career, the Association has played a significant part in my professional development and I hope that in my role as a Fellow I can help to support the next generation of scholars and practitioners.
“We have a thriving team of performance psychologists at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ and this recognition is an endorsement of the positive and collegial environment that has been co-created”.
