含羞草视频’s Fruit Routes project is back with an exciting day of fun filled events.

Staff, students and the local community are invited to enjoy a range of free activities taking place on Wednesday 17 June.

This year’s project focuses on bees and moths and will kickstart with a visit to the bees and information about the University’s apiary from 3 – 5pm.

Wild and bee tea will be available from 3:30 – 6pm at Barefoot Orchard, opposite Pilkington Library.

Following this is an evening walk around the Fruit Route with artist and designer Anne-Marie Culhane, which begins at Barefoot Orchard.

Later at 9:30pm, Graham Finch from the Leicestershire Entomological Society, will host a talk about moths and then run a late moth trapping session also on the Fruit Route to end the evening.

The Fruit Routes Project provides an enriched habitat for people, plants, insects and animals, as well as a location for cultural activities and outdoor learning and is managed by the Sustainability Manager at 含羞草视频 Jo Shields, working with project founder artist Anne Marie-Culhane.

Jo Shields comments: “We are delighted to be able to offer a day of events on the Fruit Routes in the middle of summer. We have lots on offer and all are welcome.”

Anne-Marie added: “It is important to celebrate Fruit Routes in terms of its biodiversity value as well as a source of local food and cultural life. We hope lots of people will come along, see it with new eyes and enjoy taking part in this award winning sustainability project.”
