º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ secure 35th consecutive BUCS title

Last night it was confirmed that º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Students have been crowned British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) champions for the 35th consecutive year.

Presented at the BUCS Annual Awards Dinner, part of the week long BUCS Conference in Liverpool, current Vice President for Sport Steffan Lloyd received the award on behalf of the 4,500 students that make up º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s Athletic Union.

Winning BUCS titles in sports including Athletics, Badminton and Swimming, º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Students amassed a points total of 5,878.2, over 1,800 points clear of our nearest competitor, Durham University. This tally is also more than 500 points better than our winning total twelve months ago.

On collecting the BUCS Sport Kerslake trophy, Steffan Lloyd said:

“This is an unbelievable record for any sporting organisation or team anywhere in the sporting world. The dominance of student sport is underpinned by over 4000 students who regularly contribute to our University’s sporting successes. The Athletic Union and Sport Development Centre staff put in many hard and long hours to ensure that we continue to support the development of our clubs and athletes to remain as the number one sporting University.”

“I couldn’t be prouder of our students and staff. You deserve a huge amount of credit for your excellence and commitment.”
