Freefest 2015 - º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Students' Union's annual music festival returns

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Students’ Union’s annual music festival Freefest returns on Bank Holiday Monday! (4 May 2015)

This year, the Student’s Union has teamed up with LU Arts to bring you an extended week long of creative talent, including inspiring work from a range of student societies.

Staff, students and local residents are welcomed on campus every day for the entire week to experience the creativity of º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ students.

The week starts on Bank Holiday Monday with a fantastic line up of bands across two stages, alongside a vintage clothing fair and stalls. Student society Fever will be flaunting their incredible circus skills and the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s Arts photography competition will also be exhibited. 

On Tuesday 5th May, LSU SING! take to the Cope Auditorium stage to showcase their talents from 7.30pm.

Wednesday 6th May will see a performance from the Music Scholarship winners in the Cope Auditorium at 1.15pm.

On Thursday 7th May, there’s an exclusive performance of Stage Society’s student-written play ‘Time at the Bar’ at the Cope Auditorium from 7.30pm, before its premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival later this year.

On Friday 8th May, the University String Orchestra will perform a set including an original comission at Martin Hall from 1pm. The Music Society is performing an intimate acoustic set at the Shed from 7pm.

On Saturday 9th May, catch Shakespeare Society’s ‘Taming of the Shrew’ at 3pm in the Cope Auditorium after three sell out shows in the winter. Head back there at 7pm for a dance showcase featuring Bhangra, Salsa, Pole Fitness, Breakdance and Bollywood performances.

Lastly on Sunday 10th May, you can enjoy a set from renowned º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ society Tuxedo Swing Dance around the University Fountain from 3pm.

An entire week of arts and music, Freefest 2015 is not to be missed! All events are free to attend but some do require booking.
