Countdown is on to º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s winter woolly world record attempt
There are just a few days left to dig out your Christmas jumpers for the winter woolly world record fundraising event at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ on Wednesday 10 December.
The event is being held as part of the national Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day fundraiser, which is aiming to “make the world better with a sweater.” Now in its third year, the event has raised more than £1.6 million to date to help give children around the world a brighter future.
The world record attempt will take place on Wednesday 10 December from 12.30pm at the newly landscaped Shirley Pearce Square, in front of Martin Hall on the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ campus.
“We’d like to see as many people from all around º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ on the campus wearing their Christmas woollies,” says Sarah Haar, who is organising the event. “There will be a Christmas farmers’ market and music to keep you entertained too. And if you don’t have chance to get a Christmas jumper before the event, you can buy one on the day at the University, with a proportion of the cost going to Save the Children.
“So if you’ve got a bit of time to spare at lunchtime on 10 December, we’d love to see you and all your family and friends on campus!”
Pre-registration for the event isn’t required, but if you let us have your contact details at www.lboro.ac.uk/news-events/events/jumpers/ we can keep you informed about the day.
And don’t forget to tweet pictures of you and your friends in your Christmas woollies with the hashtags #xmasjumperday #LboroXmas
