º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s new Centre for Information Management (CIM) is being officially launched at the campus on Wednesday 25th September.

Part of the School of Business and Economics, the Centre will focus its research on big data, social media, cloud and mobile-based services and the effective management of these information and knowledge assets.

It brings together an outstanding team of academics who are already leaders in their field, having undertaken national and international research for both the public and private sector including the NHS, Leicestershire Police and Jaguar Land Rover.

The Centre Director is Professor Tom Jackson, whose work on email use and extracting geographically mapped emotions from social media has already attracted international interest.

He said: “We live in an information rich society, and how this information is managed is vital. Through the CIM we want to evidence the significance and value of information, challenge thinking and practice around information management and improve performance through analysis, interpretation and judgment of information.

“This is an exciting time for the Centre for Information Management as we embark on transforming the digital world.”

At the launch academics from the Centre will showcase their latest research projects, and there will be a keynote address from Robert Galliers, a distinguished Professor in Information Systems at Bentley University, Boston, who has recently been awarded the Association for Information Systems lifetime achievement award.
