Community groups boosted by University Funding
Community activities as diverse as storytelling and gardening have been supported by º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ in the latest round of awards from its Community Donations Fund.
The awards were made from the Open Fund, one of four categories that make up the overall Community Donations Fund. A total of £10,000 was awarded, twice the amount as the previous year. The groups and the projects receiving support included:

The community groups receiving awards were presented with their cheques by the University's Professor Morag Bell, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Teaching. The event took place in the Town Hall, º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ and was attended by Charnwood Borough Council Mayor, Councillor Sandie Forest and other local guests and dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, Jon Walker, Chair of the Donations Fund committee said: "The University is delighted to be able to support community groups across Charnwood. It is a real pleasure to learn of the amazing projects taking place across the local area and support the great work volunteers do. We wish everyone great success with their projects and activities."
Later in the summer the University will make awards from its Inside Out Fund and Strategic Fund. The Inside Out Fund is dedicated to supporting members of staff at the University involved in community projects, whilst the Strategic Fund supports community activities in priority areas working with partner agencies such as Charnwood Borough Council and Leicestershire Police.
