Intelligent Energy and Etisalat announce energy device collaboration

Intelligent Energy’s consumer electronics division selected by telecom, Etisalat for user trial

Intelligent Energy – the global power technology company, founded on º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ research and headquartered at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Science and Enterprise Park – today announced a collaboration with world-leading telecommunications company, Etisalat Nigeria, starting immediately. The companies will work together to test personal energy devices powered by Intelligent Energy’s proven fuel cell technology, with an Etisalat user trial to commence in this quarter.

With the growth in demand for mobile services and data, reliable and off-grid energy is becoming increasingly important. The scope of the Etisalat trial will include in-field testing of a new, cutting-edge solution, based on Intelligent Energy’s clean energy technology with selected customers across various devices.

“Etisalat believes in providing our customers with up to date solutions that will improve their mobile experience, and that is why we have partnered with Intelligent Energy for this energy-saving initiative.  Our customers will now be able to enjoy personal energy on the go and are also able to use their portable devices at any time without the concern of running out of energy, thanks to this world-class technology”, said Wael Ammar, Chief Commercial Officer at Etisalat Nigeria.

“We’re proud to work with Etisalat. They have clearly identified an under-served area for mobile consumer energy devices. Together we aim to deliver the most relevant, innovative and value-added solutions to Etisalat's subscribers,” said Dr Henri Winand, Intelligent Energy’s Chief Executive Officer.

As electronic devices become more sophisticated, the requirement for portable power has increased exponentially. However, advances in battery power have lagged behind, leading to consumer disappointment and creating a need for practical and cost-effective alternatives. Intelligent Energy’s portable power technology has been developed to address this need, providing greater amounts of “on-the-go” power so that mobile operators can deliver better user experience and increased average revenue per user (ARPU).
