Design student wins ‘Talent of the Future’ award
A º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Design School student has won £250 and a work experience placement after being selected as Nimlok’s Talent of the Future winner for 2013.
Final year student Jagrut Mistry was shortlisted as one of three finalists by a panel of creative and industry experts. The judging panel was headed up by Olivier Vallee from the leading event and experience marketing agency George P Johnson.
Global exhibition solutions provider Nimlok launched the competition in 2012 to celebrate upcoming talent in the events and design market. The competition required the entrant to choose a design brief from three exhibition and display scenarios. Jagrut’s entry was selected as the people’s choice when the competition was opened up to a public vote.
Jagrut said: “I feel elated to have been selected as the winner of this competition. It provides me with further motivation to pursue a career within a creative environment and will be beneficial to developing my experience. The competition has given me the chance to apply my knowledge of design principles effectively where I plan to build upon my experience of entering the competition.”
Dr Darren Southee, Programme Director for Jagrut’s degree in Product Design and Technology, added “º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Design School are delighted that Jagrut has won this award. He has produced some excellent work throughout his time at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ so far.
“The School’s highly regarded Product Design and Technology BSc develops skills and ability in the development and communication of ideas, ergonomics, interaction, product styling, three-dimensional designing, materials and processes. Jagrut’s proposed exhibition stand design, focusing on creating an immersive and engaging environment, clearly demonstrates he is a worthy winner for such a ‘Talent of the Future’ award.”
In addition to the £250 prize, during his placement with Nimlok Jagrut will get the opportunity to work with a number of leading brands such as Virgin, TomTom and Prudential, and develop a number of products including interactive displays, digital games and exhibition stands.
Lewis Field, head designer at Nimlok, said: “We are looking forward to Jagrut joining our team and enabling him to put his obvious skills to the test.”
