º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ technician scoops national award
A technician from the University’s º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Design School has won a national award in recognition of his support of students and colleagues.
Andrew Hallam was presented with the Higher Education Academy STEM (Science, technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Engineering Technician of the Year award at its annual conference (Wednesday 17 April).
Nominees were asked to demonstrate how their skills, actions and good practice have improved the experience of students and how they have engaged and communicated with staff and students.
Dr Janet De Wilde, the Academy’s Head of STEM comments: “As the national body for enhancing learning and teaching in higher education, the Higher Education Academy recognises that technicians, in the field or in the laboratory, have a very important role in supporting the student learning experience. I’d like to extend my congratulations to all the award winners.”
Professor Tracy Bhamra, Dean of the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Design School said: “We are delighted Andrew has won this award, he is an asset to the school, its students and staff.”
Andrew received £150 and a certificate.
