His career began with the founding of an internet company in 1998, which he sold to pursue academia, becoming the youngest professor at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ in 2013.
Professor Jackson’s pioneering research includes the development of EMOTIVE, a system capable of predicting social events through emotional analysis of social media posts, and the Data Carbon Scorecard, the first tool to assess AI's impact on CO2 emissions.
Recognised by the World Economic Forum as the founder of the Digital Decarbonisation movement, he has influenced global strategies by highlighting digital decarbonisation metrics into key initiatives such as the GHG Protocol and IEEE standards for AI systems.
