Profile
Dr Jamie Barker has an international research profile in the areas of stress, group dynamics, wellbeing, and mental health. He has worked on research projects supported by organisations such as the UK Sports Institute, the Football Association, the England and Wales Cricket Board, the Armed Forces Covenant Trust, the Economic and Social Research Council, Innovate UK, and the World Anti-Doping Agency.
As an applied psychologist, his main research interests focus on understanding and developing effective coping in individuals and groups in relation to stress (eg performance under pressure), mental health, and wellbeing across many performance domains including sport, business, medicine and the military.
Dr Barker is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology and Mental Health Science and is also a registered and chartered sport and exercise psychologist, with over 25 years of applied experience working in professional and elite sport, business, and military contexts.
