Profile
Ishara has a background in electronics engineering, textile engineering and nanotechnology. He is involved in academic and industrial research covering areas of smart textiles and wearable electronic applications for healthcare, sports, communication and personal electronics.
Ishara is passionate about outreach and public engagement, showcasing his work in major UK events such as Royal Society Summer Science 2023. He has won prestigious awards including UK’s Young Engineering of the Year for 2024, Sri Lanka President’s Award for Scientific Research and ABTA Doctoral Researcher Award.
He has appeared on the BBC, Sri Lanka National Television, SBS Radio, and his work has been featured on over 100 websites such as Yahoo, MSN and Physics World.
