I am a Doctoral Researcher and Registered Nurse within the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences. I am interested in how the brain responds to food cues in people living with obesity, before and after weight loss.

I have a clinical background in cardiovascular critical care and my research career began in the NHS and National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) as a research nurse, coordinating commercial clinical trials. I love working with patients and I find research within medicine and healthcare fascinating: today’s research is tomorrow’s care.

Obesity is an extremely complex and misunderstood disease which involves our brain and hormones within our gut. The items in my hand refer to my research interests in approved medications for weight loss and how these may affect people of different ethnic backgrounds living with obesity. I am passionate about including people who are often underrepresented in health care research, but also to represent nurses in the wider academic world.
