Secondary or Pre-Existing Human Data

For studies which involve the analysis of pre-existing data, ethical review may not be required as long as the data is fully anonymous or already in the public domain (books, newspapers, tweets). If you are using data which is not public you must obtain permission from the data owner. Please refer to the chart below to determine whether an ethics submission is required.
