Maia Terms of Reference
The Maia Terms of Reference outline the purpose, structure and scope of the network.
Membership
Maia unites women staff and Doctoral Researchers, *including trans women and non-binary people, comfortable in a female-centred community, across Schools, Professional Services, º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Students' Union or who works for a University campus partner (e.g. Imago). Gender equality is a human right, not a female fight, and so Maia welcomes engagement from all colleagues, regardless of gender.
Structure
Maia holds monthly committee meetings which are attended by committee members and led by the co-chairs. The full range of current positions and members can be found in our dedicated webpages. Every effort is made to represent the diversity women at the University and across both academic and professional services.
Committee positions are open to our female members, with other specific positions also open to allies. A call is put out if any committee positions are vacant with applicants submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI). For all positions except co-chairs, a sub-committee of committee members is held to shortlist and select the most appropriate applicant. For Co-chair positions the applicants are put out to vote to the Maia membership. A Co-chair position is held for two years (unless a co-chair leaves the role earlier) and elections are held after the two years. Previous Co-chairs are welcome to reapply.
