Want to write a song but don't know how to start? Or started one, but don't know how to finish it? This is the course for you! This six week short course will introduce the fundamentals of song writing so you can regularly start and finish songs.
Topics covered will include generating ideas using rhythm, chord sequences, avoiding writer's block, writing compelling lyrics, and arrangement.
The course is open to all ability levels. If you play an instrument then you are welcome to bring this along with you. There is a piano in the room where the classes are being held.
When you select the first date of the course during booking, your ticket will automatically be applied to all six weeks.
º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ the teacher
The course will be delivered by Ian Crabtree. A professional guitar player, producer and songwriter, Ian has written songs for The Voice 2014 finalist Sally Barker, top jazz pianist Oli Silk and legendary UK funk outfit Down to the Bone. He regularly writes music for Clearwave/BMG and Loaded music publishers.
Where will the classes take place?
The classes will take place in the large music room behind the Cope Auditorium. Details on how to find this will be sent to attendees in advance.
Accessibility
The entrance has a small set of concrete steps. Step-free access is possible via the main Cope Auditorium but please let LU Arts know if you need to use this entrance so they can make appropriate arrangements for you.
If you have any specific access requirements or anything you would like the organisers to be aware of when running the event, please let LU Arts know via the order form or email LUArts@lboro.ac.uk and they will do their best to accommodate them.
