Conduct of Meetings
(Version effective from 28 October 2006)
Council
One-third of the total actual membership of the Council shall constitute a quorum provided that the number of lay members present exceeds that of the staff and student members, excluding the Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor. In the absence of a quorum, no business shall be transacted other than the adjournment of the meeting. At the adjourned meeting, no business other than for which the original meeting was called shall be dealt with. The manner of summoning the adjourned meeting, and the period of notice to be given, shall be prescribed in the Regulations made by Council for governing their proceedings.
Senate
One-half of the total actual membership of the Senate shall constitute a quorum. In the absence of a quorum, no business shall be transacted other than the adjournment of the meeting. At the adjourned meeting, no business other than that for which the original meeting was called shall be dealt with. The manner of summoning the adjourned meeting, and the period of notice to be given, shall be prescribed in the Regulations made by Senate governing its proceedings.
