Amongst a range of causes, donations to the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Fund support students to access extra-curricular activities. LU Arts – the University’s arts programme – has a range of projects that are being supported by donations to the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Fund. Here we look at just some of the LU Arts projects that are being supported by the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Fund.

Arts and Music Scholarships are helping students to pursue dance, creative writing, photography, and more. The scholarships are an extra-curricular award that recognise, reward, and develop talent in any art form.

Current student Riddhi Naik received an Arts Scholarship for dance. She said:

“This scholarship has been incredibly helpful since I arrived in the UK to pursue my master’s in Strength and Conditioning. Balancing expenses while training in a non-academic field like dance can be challenging.

“Thanks to the scholarship, I had the opportunity to learn from some of the best teachers in London and attend classes I’ve always dreamed of. I also had the chance to teach workshops and perform with various university societies, including the LU Arts showcase. I'm deeply grateful to the University and the LU Arts team for these experiences.”

Five further scholarships of up to £500 each will be awarded this term.

Create and Connect is a programme that LU Arts is running in collaboration with the University’s International Student Experience team. It includes a range of activities for international students such as an arts showcase and two 6-week long programmes that consist of workshops, wellbeing sessions, and community activities.

Working with student groups and artists, funds are also supporting artist commissions. Every year there are numerous opportunities for artists to deliver student-focused activities. There are also one-off artist commissions and artist residencies, which invite artists to engage with a specific part of the campus or the University's history. Commissions give students the opportunity to showcase and share their talents with others, and an opportunity to earn money on an ad-hoc alongside their studies.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Fund, which supports activities such as this.
