Article by Professor Gruber tops University downloads list
An article written by Professor Thorsten Gruber, Director of the Centre for Service Management, has topped the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s most downloaded item’s list with more than 12,000 downloads in the three years since publication.
Professor Gruber’s article, entitled “Understanding Generation Y and Their Use of Social Media: A Review and Research Agenda”, was published in the Journal of Service Management (JOSM, Impact Factor: 2.0) and picked up a Robert Johnson Award by JOSM in 2013.
The article, which provides an overview of how ‘millennials’ or ‘Gen Y’ utilise social media and whether this will be a precursor to future behaviour, has in addition been cited 160 times (highest of all 2013 JOSM articles) and has been downloaded more than 27,000 times from JOSM’s website (highest of all JOSM articles in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016).
The article also recently won one of the prestigious 2016 Emerald Citations of Excellence Awards. Each year, Emerald Group Publishing awards certificates to highly cited papers relating to the areas of business, management, finance, accounting, economics and marketing. The selection process made by their own editorial experts is based initially on the citations being given to papers published in a previous year (in this case 2013), but their judging panel also take into account the content of the papers themselves in terms of novelty, interdisciplinary interest and relevancy in today’s world.
