Foundation Studies FAQs

As a Foundation student can I apply for a room in University accommodation?

Yes, Foundation students are treated in exactly the same way as any first year student. If you have a confirmed place you will be able to register your online account and reserve a room from mid-June. There are deadline for guaranteed accommodation. Find out more about your options and any deadlines for applications visit our accomodation webpages.

I saw that º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ runs a Business degree with a Foundation Year? I have an offer to study [Mathematics/Computer Science/Physics/Chemistry/ Natural Sciences] with a Foundation Year. But I have an A-level in Business Studies. Can I swap?

No, I am afraid only students with elite athlete status can take this particular Foundation pathway. It is not open to students in general.

What If I have changed my mind?

If you have an offer to study [Mathematics/Computer Science/Physics/Chemistry/ Natural Sciences] with a Foundation Year, then there is some room to swap to another Foundation pathway. Please contact the Foundation team via email (using foundation@lboro.ac.uk) who will be able to advise further.

If you have an offer for direct entry into [Mathematics/Computer Science/Physics/Chemistry/ Natural Sciences] you cannot simply swap to a Foundation pathway unless you fulfill our eligibility criteria.

I have an offer for direct entry into [Mathematics/Computer Science/Physics/Chemistry/ Natural Sciences]. What happens if I don't achieve the grades I need? Can I take the Foundation Year instead?

Since you have an offer for direct entry into [Mathematics/Computer Science/Physics/Chemistry/ Natural Sciences] you cannot simply swap to study these subjects with a Foundation year. You must also satisfy our eligibility criteria. If your underachievement is due to an external factor (extenuating circumstance) then we might be able to consider your application. Please contact the Foundation team via email (using foundation@lboro.ac.uk) and explain your situation a bit more. There might be something we can do once we know more about you and your change of circumstance.
