Research groups and centres
The Department of Mathematical Sciences works to deliver innovative research that has the potential to have significant impact on industry and the wider world.
Over 30 members of academic staff work across a variety of research disciplines in both pure and applied mathematics, to develop new ways of thinking and learning, and continually strengthen research within the department.
Research groups
The Department's research is broken down into six distinct groups or themes. Each group is made up of staff and students that specialise in a particular area. The groups regularly hold seminars, workshops, and conferences, featuring presentations by both internal and external speakers.
Research centres
In addition to our seven research groups, the Department also contains three research centres. These research centres define areas of focussed activity that often span multiple research groups and disciplines.
