Deterministic homogenisation for fast-slow systems with slowly mixing fast dynamics
Nick Fleming (Warwick)
In this talk, we consider homogenisation (convergence to a stochastic differential equation) for fast-slow systems with deterministic fast direction. It turns out that homogenisation follows from certain statistical properties for the fast dynamics. However, previously it was not possible to check one of these properties for some slowly mixing nonuniformly hyperbolic maps, such as Bunimovich flowers. We discuss new results that give homogenisation for nonuniformly hyperbolic maps under optimal assumptions.
