º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Mathematical Sciences
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ strives to develop mathematically gifted graduates, train postgraduate students in specialist topics, and further the development of mathematics and its application through cutting edge research.
The Department has attracted staff and students from all over the world, making it a diverse and stimulating environment in which to study. Active in high quality research across the broad spectrum of mathematics, the Department has an international reputation, with 100% of research impact rated ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ in REF 2021.
In addition, the Department works very closely with the award-winning Mathematics Education Centre that has been providing academic support to º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ students and leading research on the way mathematics is taught and learnt since 2002. º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ won the Outstanding Support for Students award at the Times Higher Education Awards 2011, for its work in Mathematics and Statistics support.
The Department of Mathematical Sciences is part of the London Mathematical Society's Good Practice Scheme which supports mathematics departments interested in embedding equal opportunities for women within their working practices.
We are located in the Schofield building, located centrally on the University campus. With recent £4million investment to refurbish the building, it is well equipped with dedicated resources for mathematics students.
