Win for Dr Lara Alcock's book on abstract algebra

Dr Lara Alcock's abstract algebra book has been named Chalkdust Book of the Year 2021.

New five-year research project which will understand and improve early mathematics learning launched at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.

The Centre for Early Mathematics Learning (CEML) was celebrated at a launch event on 9 June, opened by º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s Vice Chancellor Professor Nick Jennings. Other guest speakers included Lynne McClure OBE, Director of Cambridge Mathematics.

REF 2021: 100% of Department of Mathematics Education research impact rated ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’

The results of the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF), published on 12 May, show that 100% of Department of Mathematics Education research impact was rated ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ and overall 91% of º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s research is now ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally-excellent’.

Two wins for º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ at British Psychological Society Book Award

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ has recently celebrated two wins in the British Psychological Society Book Award, which celebrates psychology publications. In the textbook category Professor Camilla Gilmore and Professor Matthew Inglis from the Mathematics Education Centre, along with co-author Dr Silke Göbel from York University, won for their title ‘An Introduction to Mathematical Cognition’.
