Eighty-five per cent of the Mathematics Education Centre’s research activity has been assessed as being “world leading” or “internationally excellent” in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework. We were the fifth highest ranked UK education department on this measure. Overall, the panel classified 28% of our research activity as “world leading” (4* quality), and a further 57% as “internationally excellent” (3* quality). We were one of only four UK education departments to have 100% of our research activity judged to be of international quality (2* quality or better).
