Dr Helen Willcock, a Senior Lecturer and Undergraduate Programme Director within the Department of Materials is to run her first half marathon in Coventry this year after running a maximum of only 10km previously.

Helen is raising money for a local hospice – The Myton Hospices, as Helen states: “Because they help people when they need it the most.”

Each year, Myton Hospices support thousands of people & their families, in their three hospices, via their patient & family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home.  They need to raise £9.2 million this year to continue providing their services free of charge.

The Department of Materials wishes Helen all the best in her charitable endeavours in March and hopes that she will still be able to teach after pushing her limits!
