Tinplate Design Show 2016
On December 12th 2016, the Department of Materials held its annual Tinplate Design Show thanks to the kind sponsorship from the Worshipful Company of Tinplate Alias Wireworkers Livery Company.
Ten teams of students showcased their designs and posters for staff and the Livery Company following the formal presentation of their designs to the Livery Company and academic staff.
Students presented a range of different tinplate and steel wire designs, including a tinplate rucksack cover, a cold can and a temporary pothole solution using wire mesh and springs.
The event was a great success and gave students the opportunity to practice their presentation and sales skills, which gave them a real world experience of the process of designing and selling designs.
A number of prizes were presented by the Livery Company for Best Posters and Best Design Awards:
