Materials Graduate Gains R H Craven Award
The R H Craven Award was founded by the London section of the Plastics and Rubber Institute (PRI) to commemorate RH Craven who was the assistant secretary of the PRI in honour of his contributions to the plastics and rubber industries.
Materials Graduate Alasdair Maitland, received the award for doing well throughout his degree; particularly for his placement year (Alasdair was nominated for Placement Student of the Year) and final year project which were both focused on polymers. His passion for engaging young people in materials engineering also played a part in his receiving the award.
The prize giving was at IOM3 in London where Alasdair was presented with a certificate, £200 and a trophy. (pictured above.)
Alasdair graduated in 2017 and he is currently on the graduate development programme at Airbus working as a materials engineer in the space systems department.
Alasdair had this to say in response to receiving the award:
“It was a huge honour to accept this award and I am very thankful to both º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, for nominating me, and of course to IOM3, for organising the presentation evening and presenting me with the award.”
The School of Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical and Materials Engineering would like to take this opportunity to formally congratulate Alasdair on his achievement and we look forward to hearing about his engineering accomplishments in the future!
