Placement year
The graduate jobs market is highly competitive, with employers looking to recruit students that stand out from the crowd. Our placement year, offered on every course, is recommended and can give you that edge industry leaders are searching for.
The Department of Computer Science has a history of building strong relationships with some of the world's leaders in the industry. The placement year is a valuable component of the academic part of the programme and enables you to 'test drive' a career, earn a wage, develop your interpersonal skills and boost your employability.
We highly recommend students take the professional placement (sandwich) option that is available on all our undergraduate courses. In some cases, placements have led to offers of permanent employment upon graduation and even to financial sponsorship for your final year at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.
Students are responsible for arranging their own industrial placements, but we can help you find opportunities, and the University's Careers and Employability Centre is also there to provide support. As a department we have been highly successful in helping our students secure placements with major IT and business sector companies.
