Research and expertise

I am a PhD researcher interested in analytical chemistry, specifically method development.

I have expertise in analytical chemistry, and have used a range of techniques including quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM-D), gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS), and scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX).

My research has taken me from engine oil formulation development to exhaled breath condensate analysis. I am particularly interested in method/process development in the analytical space.

Current research activity

  • Undertaking a literature review surrounding the analysis of microplastics in the environment

Recently completed research projects

  • Development and Application of a GC-MS Method for the Analysis of Short-Chain Fatty Acids in Exhaled Breath Condensate

Profile

Before starting my PhD I completed an undergraduate Master’s course in Chemistry (MChem) with a year in industry at the Lubrizol Corporation, working with chemical additives for engine oils.

Awards

  • PAL Facilitator of the Year 2023
