Research and expertise
I graduated from the University of Sheffield with a BSc in physics (2019), an MSc in energy engineering with industrial management (2020), and I joined the EPSRC ERBE CDT programme in the autumn of 2020.
Having completed work placements in various parts of energy engineering with companies such as E.ON UK, EDF, AMCO-Giffen and most recently the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC), I have developed a passion for understanding the complexity of buildings and their energy systems. My MSc project focussed on the use of agent-based modelling techniques to simulate a district heat network, which set the basis for my continued research into the dynamic modelling of multi-vector energy and heating systems.
My thesis, "Exploring the Thermal Demand Response Potential of UK Dwellings Using Rule-based Control of Electrified Heating Systems," aims to enhance demand-side energy flexibility to enable renewables and save consumers money.
Current research activity
- Doctoral Researcher – ERBE CDT – Exploring the Thermal Demand Response Potential of UK Dwellings Using Rule-based Control of Electrified Heating Systems
Recently completed research projects
- District scale modelling of district heating using agent-based modelling techniques
Teaching
I frequently contribute to learning and teaching activities, including participation in widening participation and outreach work through The Brilliant Club as a mentor in schools and as a STEM ambassador.
Profile
I am actively seeking industrial and governmental engagement in the topic of buildings and energy to ground my academic work and generate active knowledge exchange in this new and fast-moving research area.
I also welcome practical experience on projects relating to the sustainable development of energy systems, particularly in urban environments where there are often multi-vector systems. I'm passionate about ensuring energy is more sustainable for now and future generations, with a great desire to ensure the worlds energy demands are met in a low-carbon, responsible and safe way.
