Profile
I had a London based career in Architectural Practice ultimately as a long-serving Partner at Sheppard Robson, one of the UK’s leading architectural practices, during which time I was responsible for a series of large scale award winning projects throughout the UK and overseas. These projects were across a wide range of typologies, including Laboratory Buildings, University research buildings, Commercial Office buildings and multi-apartment urban residential developments. My clients included Leading Commercial and Residential Developers, the BBC, Pharmaceutical Companies, the Medical Research Council, Imperial College and many other UK universities.
During my time at Sheppard Robson I was involved with pan-industry initiatives and collaborations which included being the founder chairman of the London Constructing Excellence Club and working with º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ as an industrial collaborator on research programmes including Adept and VaLid through the 1990s and early 2000s.
On ‘retirement’ from Practice in 2014 I was fortunate to be approached by Professors Simon Austin and Tony Thorpe (former Dean of ABCE) to become involved with the development and establishment of both the BArch and MArch at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ. Subsequently I have become a member of the teaching team, primarily as a design tutor for Design Studios B and C, but also lecturing and running workshops for other modules, bringing my hard-won experience to the lecture theatre and studio.
I am currently the module leader for Design Studio B.
I served for nine years as a member of º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s Estates Management / Infrastructure committee, advising on strategic matters relating to capital development and refurbishment on the campus, and I continue to provide support to PMBs for specific projects.
I am a member of the Georgian Group’s Casework Committee, advising as a consultee on significant proposals for notable Georgian buildings.
