Agate is a full time PhD student at the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ working on a 4-year iCASE project “Tyre fingerprinting for rapid and cost-effective tyre model generation” which is sponsored by The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Jaguar Land Rover. The project is aimed at investigating new methods for rapid, accurate and economical tyre model parameter identification. Tyre models are used in vehicle dynamics simulations to predict tyre behaviour in real life conditions. These models are constructed using various parameters that relate to the structure of the tyres, their materials and operating conditions. The project entails various laboratory-based tests (e.g. modal analysis, friction testing) to establish a procedure of quick and accurate data acquisition; these data are then to be used in parameterization of the existing tyre models.
