Propulsion & Energy System:

Propulsion and Energy System looks at both experimental and computational research with low carbon vehicle powertrains and propulsion system, that leads to enhanced understanding relevant to the industry.

The primary activities and research capabilities of propulsion and energy systems could be divided to identification, dynamic modelling characterization (testing), monitoring and control of: Internal combustion engines, electric propulsion and energy management / optimization.

Activities we address include but are not limited to:

  • Combustion chemical kinetics
  • Emission analysis and control
  • VVT effect on GDI combustion
  • Turbulent pre-mixed combustion
  • Flow & Combustion in Engines
  • Reacting Large Eddy Simulation (LES)
  • Fuel Spray Modelling
  • PDA Analysis of a GDI Spray
  • PIV Analysis of In-cylinder Flow Structures
  • Engine and combustion modelling and control
  • Homogeneous charge compression ignition combustion
  • Computational and experimental turbulent reacting flows
  • Alternative fuels: natural gas, bio-diesel, methanol and ethanol
