º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ the artist:
Yajie Hu is currently a doctoral researcher in the School of Design and Creative Arts at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ and an LU Arts arts worker. Alongside her research role, she is also a contemporary jewellery artist, exhibiting her creations internationally. Her work has been exhibited at events such as TALENTE 2018 during Munich Jewellery Week. She was one of the three winners of the Preziosa Young Design Competition 2019 in Florence and also a recipient of the Porto Joia Award at Collectiva 2019 in Porto. Her passion for contemporary jewellery has inspired her to delve deeper into research, combining her creative work with academic study.
º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ the HOME series:
During the autumn term the Chaplaincy will be hosting a series of events and workshops to help students feel at home at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ. These events are loosely based around research undertaken in the HOME Centre for Doctoral Training at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ In particular they are seeking to help students reduce and overcome their feelings of homesickness by enabling them to form new emotional connections with their new home at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, and connect creatively with their previous experiences of home. Building on the research undertaken by HOME CDT, events will encourage emotional connections by building habits and routines, creating objects with sentimental or practical use and connecting with others through shared activities.
LU Arts is providing arts workers to run the creative workshops that are part of this series.
