º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ LU Arts
At LU Arts we run a student-focused arts programme. This gives you plenty of opportunities to enjoy and/or get involved in the arts during your time at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.
Contributing to the cultural life of the campus and town
LU Arts is º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s arts centre. Unlike many University arts centres we are not building based but rather deliver a diverse programme of events and activities that take place across the campus, town and further afield. We offer a broad spectrum of events and artforms that allow access to the arts as either participant or audience.
The programme can be divided into four key strands:
- Student programme – we offer a wide range of workshops, events, scholarships and commissions that engage students in the arts. These include workshops across a variety of artforms to the opportunity for artists to work with established artists on a new campus based commissions. The programme contributes to the student experience and we strongly believe that the arts supports students wellbeing and employability and offers creative opportunities to learn new skills and make new friends.
- Radar – invites artists to work in collaboration with academic research and respond to it through the development of new artistic outputs. This unique programme commissions artists to produce work that is then presented both in º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ and galleries across the country.
- Sculpture and Art Collection - the University owns over 500 works of art and sculpture with many significant works visible across the campus. We are not only responsible for the maintenance and interpretation of the collection but we also add to the collection through the commissioning of new work
- Civic programme – we work with a range of civic partners, to develop art projects that engage with members of the local community, and result in artworks being presented within the public realm.
