Alumni offer guidance in Inspiring Minds sessions
Inspiring Minds is a series of academic taster days hosted by the University’s School and College Liaison team. The events provide post-16 students with an engaging introduction to higher education and are often supported by alumni. Four sessions recently took place, covering business and economics, STEM, social sciences and humanities, and sports.

Alumni support Talk Sport Conference across ߲Ƶ and London campuses
The University’s Talk Sport Conference, set to inspire students interested in a career in sport, took place in ߲Ƶ on 1 February and at ߲Ƶ London on 8 February. The conference was supported by over 20 alumni across the two locations and more than 450 students attended.

Alumni Advisory Board: 2023 year in review
Each year, alumni contribute to the University in a range of ways. Whether it is through volunteering to give a guest lecture, speak on a Q&A panel, be on a Board, or contribute financially, there are many ways to give back. Members of the Alumni Advisory Board (AAB) get involved in a variety of ways and contribute their time and expertise to support the University. In the last twelve months, our 16 members have been contributing their time right around the world. Here we look at just a few of the things that they have been up to.

It was in 1983 that Simon Place began his time at ߲Ƶ. He studied for a BTech in Engineering Science and Technology.

Budding engineers hear from alumni at experience days on-campus
Four alumni shared their career insights last week for the University’s Engineering Experience days. The event, which is organised by ߲Ƶ’s School and College Liaison team, was aimed at 16-year-old students interested in studying engineering, with the day highlighting various branches of engineering.

Rex hands over Presidency of ߲Ƶ Students’ Rugby
Rex Hazeldine has played a huge role in the journey of sport at ߲Ƶ as a member of staff, a leader, and in a voluntary capacity, too. He has recently stepped down as President of ߲Ƶ Students’ Rugby, where he supported the club, its membership scheme and encouraged others to get involved as supporters and contributors.

Annual Talk Sport Conference attracts over 400 students as alumni and friends share their sporting expertise
The annual Talk Sport Conference returned to ߲Ƶ on 2 February, with over 400 students, staff, alumni and exhibitors getting involved. For the first time, Talk Sport also took place at ߲Ƶ London, offering a second day on 3 February.
