Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Opportunity Scholarships at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ are offered to students from low socioeconomic backgrounds and areas of the UK where there is a low uptake in higher education.

LU Arts receives support from the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Fund
Amongst a range of causes, donations to the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Fund support students to access extra-curricular activities. The Wolfson School of Engineering at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ is celebrating its 25-year anniversary and extends a special thank you to the Wolfson Foundation for its generous grant, which has been instrumental in achieving significant research impact since 1999.

Aman Dhall launches Virendra Kumar Dhall Scholarship for Sporting Excellence for next generation Indian athletes at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ
Alumnus Aman Dhall has committed to a five-year scholarship in memory of his late father, Virendra Kumar Dhall. The five-year scholarship commits £12,500 for young athletes training for sporting excellence in non-cricket sports.

Donations from º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Fund support student participation in 2024 Red Bull Soapbox Race
A team of four º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ students, known as Team Tetra, recently competed in the Red Bull Soapbox Race in London. They designed a motorless vehicle to take to the race as one of more than 250 teams in the competition.

We say thank you to donors at a special lunch
From 17-19 May 2024, more than 200 alumni and guests visited º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ for the Alumni Reunion Weekend and Donor Lunch. As part of the weekend, the donor lunch welcomed donors and their guests to campus for an update on the impact of their donations, and to hear about the latest news from the University.

Couple dedicate golden anniversary gifts to the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Fund
When John Marchment met Diane Patrick on her first night at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ in 1971, they probably never imagined that just over 50 years later they would be celebrating their wedding anniversary with family and friends. Married in December 1973, the couple graduated in 1974 and 1975, and to celebrate, they did something very special to give back to º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.

Scholar and donor relationship concludes with special celebration
We recently celebrated awarding our largest-ever number of Opportunity Scholarships for this academic year. The scholarships have a huge impact on the student recipients – but can also have a great impact on the donor. Alumnus Murray Chapman recently saw his first-ever scholar graduate, and it was a proud day for them both.

Four students from the University recently took part in Red Bull’s Soapbox Race at Alexandra Palace in London. They were supported with a £250 grant from The º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Fund.

First recipients selected for George Gandy Legacy Funding
The George Gandy Legacy Fund was created to support athletes at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ in the pursuit of their sport, especially those experiencing financial hardship. The first recipients of the Legacy Fund were selected in February, with five student athletes receiving grants to assist with training, travel to competitions, physio treatment and a new socket for a prosthetic blade. Each recipient is a student athlete who has faced some sort of financial limitation which would impact their performance or participation in their sport.

A Falk Egg first: alumni come together to fund an Opportunity Scholarship
A group of Falkner Eggington alumni have collectively raised money to fund an Opportunity Scholarship, which supports under-represented students throughout their time at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.

The Rhys Jenkins Opportunity Scholarship has been set up in memory of Rhys Jenkins, a graduate of the Industrial Design programme at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, who sadly passed away whilst travelling in India in 2019.
